After the long wilderness of lockdown, the first rays of new business development are beginning to shine in the Swansea region. The Welsh Government and Swansea Council are acting as catalysts to grow new projects in the City Centre and beyond. These have sparked positive response from local business and community leaders.

For example, Swansea business and university leaders have given a thumbs-up to the city’s emerging new £135 million Copr Bay phase one district. The Project is earmarked for completion this year.1

The district includes the Swansea Arena, the coastal park and the landmark new bridge over Oystermouth Road. In addition, apartments, spaces for hospitality and leisure businesses, and car parking, are being developed by Swansea Council for Copr Bay Phase One.1

Copr Bay Phase One is being funded and developed by Swansea Council, with the arena element of the scheme being part-funded by the Swansea Bay City Deal. The Swansea Bay City Deal is a £1.3 billion investment fund that includes funding from the UK and Welsh Governments and the private sector for major transformation projects in this region of South Wales.2
