Swansea City Centre has plans for exciting new retail, leisure and housing development, creating a diverse mix of working, learning and living – enhanced by new connections between the Centre and Waterfront.

Parc Felindre urban village development

Proposals for a new village scheme are being developed on a greenfield site adjoining the Business Park.The vision is to create a vibrant new community at Parc Felindre where people will choose to live, work and relax, complementing Parc Felindre business environment. The urban community will include:

a simple street network with connected pedestrian/cyclist routes
a village green focal point
a range of high-quality sustainably built housing
central amenities such as school, shop and public transport access.

City Centre regeneration is aiming to create a vibrant Swansea Central Area to capitalise on its assets. The area will become regionally and nationally significant. The ‘core’ site will include a quality leisure and retail scheme, mixed waterfront developments and environmental enhancements. Work is progressing on the leisure and retail scheme 'Swansea Central'. Phase 1 includes: 3,500 capacity arena, hotel, car park and A3 offer south of Oystermouth Road, pedestrian bridge across Oystermouth Road to a multi storey car park, ancillary commercial and residential use, and public improvements.

Site work will improve Kingsway Urban Park, traffic flow, pavements, pedestrian / cycle path, planting and connectivity. Oceana building is proposed as a digital employment hub.

Swansea is an innovative waterfront city at the heart of the wider Swansea Bay City Region which offers diverse housing in an outstanding natural environment. The natural environment in the area sets the city apart, located as it is on a stunning coastline and alongside the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) the Gower Peninsula.

Traditional or contemporary housing styles are on offer allowing urban, rural or coastal lifestyles.

The City Waterfront is a landmark location and designated as the number one site of Welsh national priority status. This will become a new commercial and leisure destination with residential and community uses.

student accommodation

Swansea’s population is nearly a quarter of a million of which over half are working age and 24,000 are students at Swansea University or the University of Wales Trinity St David.

Swansea has its own specialist student housing agency Student Accommodation Services, also known as SAS Lettings. This is is a joint venture between Residential Services and the Students’ Union, set up to help students find good quality and suitable housing in the private sector.

SAS publishes a student guide which assists decision making on house shares, budget, facilities and location.
